Autoglym Aqua Wax or "HD" Wax?

    Hi Guys,

I bought myself a new (used) car earlier this year and noticed it has an "Autoglym Life Shine" sticker on the window.

The windows and bodywork still "bead" and repel water but I would like to give it another going over with some wax just for personal satisfaction.

I have been thinking of either doing it myself using Autoglym Aqua Wax

    OR

Bringing it to a Valeting place and have them wash & wax the car using Autoglym "High Definition Wax"

    Thoughts?

Definitely do it yourself. There isn't a 'valeter' in the country I've come across that I'd trust.

If the coating is still there it just needs a wash, decontamination and waxing.

Thanks, was leaning towards doing it myself alright as the coating is definitely still there.

Is AutoGlym Aqua Wax a good choice? ... It seems easy to apply with great results and ideally I'd like to stick with the same brand.

I haven't used Aqua Wax but I have used HD Wax and I find it very good. It can be a little grabby to take off but I find that if you apply VERY thin layers it's much easier to buff off.

The most important thing with applying any LSP is the prep i.e. having a clean decontaminated surface to work on. It's really 99% of the work with the wax or sealant giving you that final 1%.

I do like to keep my cars clean inside and out, but I'm very much an amateur when it comes to proper "detailing"

Think i'll give the Aqua Wax a shot, reading the description it seems like the perfect solution to my requirements

"Aqua Wax is for quickly topping up existing sealants and wax following a wash.

It has the protective benefits of a hard wax, but can be applied in a fraction of the time."

    Op,

I've tried various waxes and, in my opinion, I haven't used one better than Collinite 845. It is easy to apply and remove (apply 2 thin layers).

It lasts for ages. I get mine from Detailing Shed and the lads can advise of a polish to suit the car to compliment it also.

i'm the same as yourself, very much an amateur when it comes to this stuff.
i use the Aqua wax and i think it gives great results..
Maybe 2 oe 3 times a year i'll give the car a good polish (good for me that is), then the rest of the time this stuff.
Just be aware like the guys said above, makes sure the car is clean before applying it,
i spent an hour taking tar and other welded deposits off mine 3 weeks ago. :)
