So , failed on my first attempt in churchtown with a around 4 too many grade 2s. I'm back home for a while which ain't too far from the buncrana Donegal test centre. On account of the 60% pass rate (I'd imagine c.town is 40 something ) up there would it be worth looking for a last minute cancellation and getting an instructor for the morning of the test or would any benefits be negated by the fact that I'd be in a car that I've little experience in and not used to driving in the buncrana area ?

Why do you need to leave it to the day of the test to go for a lesson in Buncrana?

I wouldn't think it would be wise to go for a test without knowing the area too well. It's a good idea to know the general area around the test centre to be best prepared. No harm doing a few lessons up there and seeing how you get on I suppose, it'll give you chance to get used to the instructors car. If you cant do more than say 3 lessons in Buncrana I wouldn't bother, I would very much doubt an instructor would allow you to rent their car for a test if they didn't know how you drove.

As the old saying goes, "Fail to prepare, prepare to fail!"

You might well be busy and I understand that but you should really find the time to get ready for the test, wherever you sit it. A driving test is just like the other exams you're sitting. Put the work in and you should do well.
