Would the guards have found your house OK, is there house numbers?
Happened me that the did not find the house, I only found out about the original fine a year later when I was going though old letters.

There is no statute of limitations in relation to the summons being served, but Gardaí have 6 months from the date of the alleged offence to make a "complaint" to the District Court for the issue of a summons.

It is not uncommon to reveive a summons 12 months + after the alleged offence.

I guess you will be going to court then, not sure what the timeline is to get your day in court, could be 6 months or more.
