08 Ford Focus window issue

    Hi everyone,

I am having a bit of an issue with the passanger window of my 08 Focus. I had to change the battery about two weeks ago and only discovered over the weekend that when I tried to put the window up with the auto and it reached the top and went about half way down. I read the manual that came witht the car and it gave a procedure on resetting it. While I was trying that when I held the switch up it kept going down again like I couldnt manually over ride it. After a couple of goes the auto would stop working all together so I could get it up manually but again would go down again when it reached the top. Then after a few more attempts it would stop working for a brief period of time.

I rang the Ford dealer and they gave me another method to try but again the window just kept going down. I tried the hold the lock button down to see would it stay up but it went down once it hit the top again.

When I said to the dealer that it kept going down while I held the button they thought that was weird so I am just wondering has anyone here have this type of issue on their Focus (pre face lift by the way) and if they did how did they manage to fix it?

    Thanks for any help,
    Shane

Toyotas do something similar with battery removed. Have you tried this, it's for a Mondeo but should be the same...

Hold down the down switch until the window is fully lowered
Release the switch momentarily, and then press down again for 5 seconds
Hold down the up switch until the window is fully raised
Release the switch momentarily, and then press up again for 5 seconds

Bring it up gradually dont keep your finger on the switch when you get it to the top pull the switch up till you hear a click inside the door.

Iv tried that too by pulling it at the first click to where I want it but the moment I release it and pull again the window goes up hits the top and goes down again

You need to manually bring it to the top dont use the automatic part of the switch till the window is closed fully then pull it and hold it.

If the reset isn't working, you'll have to remove the door card. There should be a switch connected to the door frame near the top that can be rotated that'll need to be carefully reset by trial and error before being tightened in place.

Thanks for that but luckily I didn't ha e to go that far. Manage to sort it out by disconnecting the battery for over 20mins which reset all the windows which allowed me then to reset the auto function
