BPS Maps - Removal of scrub

    Hope someone can help.
My BPS map currently has exclusions for scrub.  The scrub is now removed.  However, I can't see how to modify the map to select and delete the scrub area.
I can edit the map (using Request change of MEA) and see the area of scrub is outlined and has a reference number.  However the scrub cannot be selected and so can't be deleted
    Any ideas ?

I thought that any amendments could be made by marking it on the maps provided and sending it off with the application?
Something like highlighting it with a marker?

    I could be wrong though.

I wonder will people burning scrub illegally now get payment?

Only if they can prove it in court

Your probably correct. Department not cracking down on fires, no word from Creed/Humphreys on it. They probably want the fires to clear scrub.

I'd say proving you illegally burned scrub in court to get payments will lead to prosecution for the illegal burning and at a minimum higher fines than the payments for the cleared land.

can you delete the plot and enter it as a new plot?
i had the same problem a few years ago with scrub and just put a note on the parcel saying what was required on the map i.e new area being claimed for included the removed scrub area,
it was a small area so didnt pay much heed at the time to it but i know how they make it easy for you to reduce areas/payment but make ye jump through hoops to get things "right"...

also remember if you put in your bps application by the 15th, you still have until 31 May to make amendments to it, or so i believe.

If that was the case she would of signed the extended burning season.

The ground that was burnt by the fire that came in on us this year has already recovered and will provide good feeding for the grouse

I had ground that was well covered with scrub,Dept had taken it out of MEA,got it totally cleaned off and the next year when putting in BPS my Teagasc advisor put on a note re that area that it was back in full use.in fairness the Dept restored it fully the following year.

    Thanks for the replies.

Anyway, no burning was involved in the removal of scrub.  Digger and mulcher did the job.

I got confirmation from the department tonight.  I left a message on their phone at 5 and they rang me back twice between 6 and 9.  That's a good service.  Much better than I expected.

I am a GLAS III applicant so must apply online.

It is not possible to modify the maps online to remove the exclusions.  The suggested process is to check the 'Request change of MEA' box.  Add the specific information about the changes into the notes section.  Enter the update area directly.  This may result in an over-claim warning.  This will get resolved when the maps are updated by the department.
