I'm looking at a car rental in Ireland for a weekend. I got a quote online for 3 days and it's coming up to 50€ which isn't too bad. Do i need insurance or can anyone tell me if rental companies offer insurance? I know I'll be paying 50€ but i want know if there will be anything else on top of this besides fuel.

€50 for a weekend is very reasonable considering the time of year.

€16 per day is suspiciously low for car 'rental' which typically does include basic third party insurance.

There are other arrangements whereby you provide the insurance, that is called a 'replacement car' as the typical customer is someone who's main car is temporarily off the road, usually after an accident. In that case you provide the insurance cert. and they phone them to get your cover temporarily moved over to the replacement car.

Would you care to name the company offering that quote for car 'rental'?

A quick search shows you can rent a car from Dublin airport the weekend after next for less than €12 per day.

I rented one in February last year for €105 for 21 days.
That makes it €5 per day.
    No extra costs at all.

Have rented in Spain for €6 per day over 7 days. €5 in Ireland is great, regardless of time rented. What were you renting?

February and May are completely different in terms of demand though.
