Cello 24 inch Android Smart TV (T2 Freeview/Saorview Approved) - Thoughts

I had to buy a new TV at D.I.D Electrical in Stillorgan last Thursday. The reason I had to replace it was that the old Beko CRT TV, which I had for 11 years, in the house had encountered a problem in the lead up to Easter. The kitchen in the house was repainted recently and the TV became a victim to breaking down after heavy amounts of rain got inside it for about 8 days. The old Saorview box and DVD player had suffered the same fate as well.

The new TV is a 24 inch Cello Android Smart TV. The price of it was €180. I bought it because a rival 24 inch TV without the Smart features was €10 more expensive than the Smart TV. The country of origin of my new Android Smart TV is from the UK. It has 2 HDMI sockets at the back. When I booted it up; it does not have the standard Saorview firmware inside it. The Smart TV menu looks good layout wise and has apps like Netflix, Youtube, Spotify, Tidal, Twitch & Kodi available on it. I don't have a wireless broadband connection to use these apps yet. This TV will be a good way of future proofing it for having a Wi-fi connection someday.

I inserted a Toshiba Blu-ray player onto it via HDMI & watched 2 episodes of the 60's Batman show on Blu-ray. The picture, with the highest settings available from the player & TV, looked fantastic. The show was shown in the original aspect ratio. But the colours shown on it were excellent.

I had tuned in the Saorview channels onto it on Thursday evening. Everything seemingly works well on it. When I had a look at the signal information on the TV menu earlier today at RTE One HD for example it had only a signal strength of 100% and signal quality of 51%. I currently use a white TV cable on it for Saorview that is used for Cable TV. I am not subscribed to Virgin Media to get the basic channels from it. I have a Satellite dish for free UK channels in the house already via the Triax TSC 114 Saorview Combi box in the sitting room. The kitchen only has the connection for Saorview via a UHF aerial.

I just to want to ask what are your thoughts or opinions on this TV if you own it yourself. Do you find the smart features in it useful? What do you think of the RTE HD channels off the TV? Do they look good for you? What are your thoughts on using the Freeview channels on it from the UK if you are able to get the signal?

I bought one last May as well and tbh I am still getting used to it a little bit. I find it, every so often, that some channels go a little bit blurry (not all the time but sometimes.) The smart features I found grand. When I go to Kodi, it says your device isn't compatible with this version and it is not in the play store and for me to download it, I have to buy and SD card. \Other than that is fine and some other features on it find difficult
