Anyone with a 1.5 Gen Leaf lost a bar yet?

    Or know of anyone that has? What are the details of the car - year, mileage etc?

    Would be interested to know on average when these 1.5 Gen ones with the newer battery start to deplete. Have seen pics from that taxi firm that runs them in the UK which is comforting, but that's extreme usage, not really comparable with normal usage of the car.

    I have 82000km on mine and it's on 97% SOH. I don't know anybody with a gen 1.5 that has lost a bar yet.

    Mine only has 45 quick charges.

    Looks like you're a long way off it yet!

    It looks currently that a MK 1.5 shouldn't loose a bar until around 200,000 Kms give or take, however, that could be 10 - 20 years driving for some and there is no way yet to tell how time will effect it regardless of mileage.

    This thread graphs real users LeafSpy data from the UK. Only one Gen 1.5 has dropped a bar so far.

    gen 1.5 leaf, doing 3-4k km per month, fast charging at least 2-3 times a week. Currently on 77k km but no sign of battery degradation, I did a 130k round trip yesterday in the warm weather with 10% to spare.

    I've 68,000 Kms on Jan 2015 leaf, SOH is between 93 and 99%.

    So those reporting Leafspy figures should know that the reported health varies by between 3 and 7%.

    Leafs doing small mileage report poorer figures, if My car sits for days with little use it can show 93% health, use it a lot for work and it will show 99%.

    Yeah, my Feb 2015 Leaf just ticked over 97,000km and reads SOH between 93% and 97% according to LeafSpy...

    Initially planned to use the "limited range" Leaf for commuting (120km/day) but ended up using it for all-Ireland driving... Wife's ICE does nothing at the weekends!

    Ditto. We have a 15 year diesel VW that, apart from commuting for herself, does nothing at all. Hopefully it will be retired soon when we become a 2 EV family! I have done 1k km each and every week since I got my leaf. It is taking the kilometers much better than an ICE.

    Hi
    Rather ironically given my handle, I still don't have leafspy as I am not sure what I need to purchase to use it. Do you use Leafspy, if so (and you are on ios) can you show a link to the bluetooth elm device that actually works?

    I have bought more than 1 non functioning. I just wanna know my SOH!

    That's the third one I bought and it works. The other 2 wouldn't connect to the leaf.

    According to the description of leafspy on the app store the following bluetooth adaptors will work.

    * LELink

    * H380

    * Viecar

    * Carista

    * Kiwi 3

    * Vgate

    Others may work but are not guaranteed, I use it on Android and don't want to pay for it again in case it doesn't work with my adapter.

    Regarding reading the state of health of your battery, I really wouldn't read too much into it. I'm going to post "Guess What Mad_Lad Got" about my recent leaf spy data. Check it out.

    My 141 gen 1.5 just lost a bar at 99k km. Still shows 135km when fully charged.

    Renault recalled Zoe's to cure that problem of capacity loss by adjusting the BMS somehow, I bet they just unlocked the hidden capacity. No reason Nissan can't do the same.

    Though I do wonder how it calculates the life because my Leaf was showing 89% a few days ago after being off work 2 weeks. A month ago it was 99% and now it's back up to 91 after working 3 days, charging and driving.

    So I'm not all to sure about any of it any more.....

    I'm still waiting for my amazon dongle to arrive but will post up my SOH once it does
    Gen 1.5, 80k km.

    Still showing 140+km range on a full charge if I drive slowly. Although it's down on my peak of 166km, nowadays I drive a lot less efficiently (19-22kwh/100km) with the work chargepoint.

    I drive a lot harder with the work charge points also and this is bound to have an effect.

    The SOH figure in LeafSpy is a bit of a mystery to me. Ive about 40k km's done on a 151 and it still says SOH 100% and has never budged from that. However, when I look at Ahr and total kWh figures when fully charged it is down about 5% from new... so, I'm thinking the SOH figure is nonsense!

    To be honest it's not Leaf Spy, Leaf Spy gets it's data from the BMS and I don't know if the BMS tells porkies sometimes.

    Even if a single bar is lost in the Leaf I'm not really sure any more it represents the claimed what, 12% lost ? If Renault were able to gain capacity by tweaking the BMS I'm sure Nissan can do the same. But as I said earlier it's most likely tapping into reserved capacity.

    Afraid I have not bothered with leaf spy. My 2011 has lost two bars and I cannot bring myself to investigate it.

    So I received my elm327 and when I connected it to the OBD port, it only shows a red light

  • Posts: 21,179 ✭✭✭✭ [Deleted User]

    Red light until it connects via bluetooth the red and green, that's if it's the same as mine.

  • Posts: 21,179 ✭✭✭✭ [Deleted User]

    It's strange, some U.K taxi's have passed 160,000 kms with no bar lost.

    There was only a red light.
    I tried troubleshooting online but to no avail.
    Had to leave the car before I got the hammer at it.

    Will have another go later, probably something stupid!

    Where are you located ? if you're reasonably close I can see if I can get it going for you.

    Thanks for the offer but I already contacted the seller and requested a refund for the dongle. It didnt work last night either, there were no instructions (except in chinese/chinese english) included but I tried the instructions in the "help" section of the leafspy app after troubleshooting online to no avail.

    I think the seller knew it was crap because he refunded straight away after I said it was cheap chinese crap.

    Oh well, the search continues for a working ELM327. Why did I make that my handle, it's a curse now!!

    Did you buy the one I recommended or something else?

    It obviously worked for me and others so he either sent you a different one or you are doing something wrong.

    I bought the exact one you linked above.
    Must have been a dud, happens with cheap chinese stock, some works and some dont. That's what I said to him, i would not have minded paying £3.20 for the risk of it not working, but I was charged £32.00!

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

    :eek:

    Was it gold plated? :p

    Got one years back (bluetooth) for about £5 shipped. It worked. Don't know if I still have it but if I do, you can have it.

    hmm, I don't know so.

    Mine did have English instructions so maybe he has a new batch that are not compatible. That generally seems to be the problem with the various different types... its down to the firmware version on them.

    Was it a Vgate you got or some other nondescript one?
