I am trying to setup a home security camera system with two TP-Link SC250 wireless cameras, I am using an old PC running Win7 and have have downloaded the TP Link camera viewer app but it keeps dropping the signal, does anybody know of a decent program that will control cameras and record the output?
I am a retired techie with time on my hands, most of my experience has been on Windows based systems and I would welcome any suggestions
    PS.
I read on an earlier thread that Seagate make a special hard drive for surveillance systems, one that will run 24/7/365,
AFAIK, all drives are the same, most business PC's run day and night, servers are never turned off, HDD failures are few and far between, the new SOlid state drives (SSD) have no moving parts will run cooler, quieter and use less power, they might be a better choice....just a suggestion

I've used it for years and it's pretty good. I wish there was a good OS X equivalent

Downloaded the trial version and set it up with 2 cameras, it looks very good!
Camera setup was a bit tricky, the NC 250 is on the drop down list but that did not work, I set it up as a generic IP camera and googled the settings, working fine now!

    Thanks for your post

What type of detection algorithms does it have? Can you set it to detect certain objects on the screen?

I've tried https://www.sighthound.com/ but their people detection algorithm is terrible. It is always detecting my cat and dog.

No idea, never tried that. Just record on motion and black out certain parts of the picture (moving trees etc)
