False Welfare Reporting

    Hi

Not sure if this is the correct forum,

Long and short of it, our neighbours have been harassing us and taking pictures. We think that they suspect my partner is on 1 parent and have reported her. Previous prior to me moving in she had 2 visits in 2 years.

Are we entitled to request any reports submitted against us under the freedom of information act?

We are sick of the stalking and harassment.

When the Social Welfare check and find out she isn't on lone parents, they're hardly likely to come knocking are they?

Thats not the point, i want to see if they reported as we are being harassed by these people, we have caught them taking pictures of us coming out of the house and even me cutting the grass.

    Report them to the Gardai.

I've no idea if you're entitled to request the reports, but if your neighbours are taking pictures of you, I'd be asking them to stop and if they didn't, I'd be heading down to the Garda station to report it.

These neighbours have been aggressive towards us, its the old irish begrudging attitude with them cos we bought our house mortgage free.

Approaching these neighbours is definitely not an option and if you go to the guards i'd have absolutely no proof, thats why i would like to get any reports made to see if the pictures are attached.

I have tried to ignore them, but there is only so much ignoring you can do when you being provoked and forced from your home. Provoking by staring constantly at the house, deliberating hammering at 7am on weekends, leaving their dogs at ridiculous times, dogs that constantly bark. There is a threshold and they have hit that. Thats why i want the pictures, cos after a year i am taking action.

They know we bought in cash cos i was bidding against they're friend and the estate agent told them a cash bidder won

You can't stop anyone for taking pics from public property unless they are bullying you in some way.

We have been threatened by said people, have you ever had nasty vindictive neighbours. Anyway i am not objecting to pictures been taken but i do when its to target my family, anyway i asked can i request reports under the freedom of information.

We wont be bullied out of our home

You would be better off ignoring them . Who cares if they are taking photos of you it just means they've nothing better to be doing with their lives. If you have nothing to hide , then I wouldn't worry about it. Unless they are intimidating you or destroying your property there's very little you can do.

Next time they take a photo just give them a thumbs up and smile ..... People like that get off on upsetting other people and getting a reaction. It becomes a vicious circle if you play their game .

You can't do anything about photos either.

Probably better suited in accommodation section.

Try the ignore route for a while but keep note and any evidence without looking like you are.

These sort of neighbours can be terrible and can keep on at it as they have nothing else to be doing.

There are some that take issue to people coming in that have bought and they haven't and many other reasons.

It happened my dad and mum before we came along where neighbour was extremely aggressive and pushy and would block their drive with cars and his truck. They eventually sold up and got a bigger better house in a nicer place so in the end it was a good thing oh and the neighbour died not that long after.

Probably from all his stress where as my dad was like oh well sort.

If your partner is on a SW payment then she is entitled to ask for a copy of records or reports and any information kept on file about her application.
Prepare to be disappointed about photos or allegations of fraud or anything else though.
That's not how fraud allegations are dealt with or nobody would ever report a case.
Your not getting on with your neighbors and in my experience it's nearly always 6 of 1/2 dozen of the other.
They can take as many photos out in public as they like.
After all you did put up CCTV around your house, didn't you?
Do you think that it fair for you to film them but they can't take pictures themselves?
As others have said, just put as much fence and hedge as you can between your house and theirs and ignore ignore ignore.
As regards staring and dirty looks please don't waste Gardai time with this school yard nonsense.

I put up CCTV looking within our boundary only as a deterrent. They complained then so we took down 1 that they were moaning about but it still didn't stop them. They got their way there and it just continued.

Its not school yard where there is threats of violence. If i react then what, it escalates like everything else does. These people want a showdown and seem adamant on getting one.

As i said there is only so much ignoring one can do.

I wonder whats next, will they make a complaint to Tusla and make up some lies cos that the type they are, then no matter what they are obliged to investigate. I just know the type they are, they reported other neighbours in the park previous for running a business and another for fabricated noise when they found out it was a council house.

Anyway i was only asking about the freedom of information, not to go to the Gardai but to know exactly the level they are going to. I know the Gardai are powerless in a lot of these situations.

I talked to a garda friend and he said its your word against theres and they will just deny it and say i am the aggressor. Gardai have there hands tied in these situations unless you have concrete proof, he actually advised to put back up the camera that angered one of the neighbours. He said that is why they want me on the road to fight them as they know they will be on camera if they enter the property.

Sometimes you can see why people fight fire with fire, sometimes the only thing these people understand

If someone is threatening violence report them to the guards, if they are taking photos of your child report them, the rest of your post sounds like paranoia and overthinking.
