Aerclub - ripoff

Has anyone else managed to get any sort of good deal using Aerclub points? I signed up late last year and currently have over 12,000 point but any flight I try to book using them costs MORE than the cash far on the Aer Lingus site would be. In some cases well more. Typical Aer Lingus rip off.

For example - a flight to Berlin paying cash on AL site would cost me €173.98 but paying with my points it would cost me 13,000 points and then still €123.92 in "fees" on top of that. Another example proved to be even worse. A flight to London would cost me just over €103.98 paying by cash but the same flight was going to cost me 8,000 Avios points and €160.17 in "charges". In the first example, it's arguable you save a little bit on the cash price but not when you consider the expense of building up that amount of points in the first place. I won't even mention the ridiculous prices on transatlantic deals.

Has anyone anything positive to say about this scheme?
