    Yes you will.

Its last 6 digits of vin or if you get logbook last 6 digits on front top of page.

It takes a few days for the new reg to go up on the system. Once up then you should be able to tax it online using the last 6 digits of the car's VIN as the PIN for the motor tax website. Dealer really should be explaining this to you.

Thank you, well i said i won't pick the car up until tomorrow and the Tax for it can start on that month, as opposed to be paying for April when there was only a few days left in that month.

Check when it was registered as tax is due from then and not when you collect it.

If it was registered in April you can declare it off the road online, then tax it from the first of the month. Dealer may have needed the reg for April figures.

Dealer did this on mine back in 2014, I didn't know it could be declared off the road, not surprised they didn't tell me though the whole experience with them was bad, went to pick the car up in January and it was the wrong engine and spec then had to wait 3 months for car to be reordered and then they pulled the registration crap, didn't even tell me it was in until first week in May after registering it in the last week of April, I have never and will never darken their door again, all servicing done by a new main dealer setup in the area who have been fine to deal with.

No log book will be issued until you tax the car for the first time.
Use the last 6 digits of the VIN or a RF100 form.
If doing it online, make sure everything is correct including your address
Shanon have a habit of putting all Dublin cars as County Dublin.
Tax is liable from date of registration.

It's the dealer that inputs the address rather than us Clare folk getting one over on the Dubs.

You should be OK as most cops will allow a bit of discretion.

If you want to be real technical about it you legally can't drive till tax disc is in window.

The fine is small and not punishable by points so don't be worrying.

As said above get them to be clear of when car was registered and if last month you have over 20 days to sign off the road.

Then just tax from tomorrow when you collect or get it home.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, i spoke with them last week and i asked them not to register it until May, because i don't want to be paying for whole month of April, it made more financial sense that i get the full month out of the tax paid..so it will be registered tomorrow and then i'll get it taxed.

Im not usually a betting man, but I'd put the house on it being registered in April.

The salesman will have wanted it included in his end of month/quarter figures my guess.

It's only €20 worth of tax anyway
