Who Wants A Winner?

Putting my neck on the line here :pac: but I cannot see Vanishing Point being beaten in the opener at DownRoyal tomorrow. Formerly with the Andrew Balding stable it has already seen victory on the flat and boasts some high class breeding being out of Pivotal. Switched over to Gordon Elliott it saw its debut just two weeks ago which for me was a highly eye catching affair. Being kept mid-division throughout the race, it put in some very novicey looking jumps giving the hurdles plenty of extra air. The turn of foot it showed at the close of the race was impressive though, where it came out of the middle of the pack and was the only one that could keep pace with the winner. I think it will come on massively from that run and expect it to win in this fairly mediocre looking maiden. The icing on the cake is the going report which has the ground on the firm side of good and with Vanishing Point being out of Pivotal, it'll appreciate it. I took the 3/1 earlier with Bet365 and that was cut straight away. Currently 5/2 which I still think is value.

Gone with Colwinstown at 8/1 ew in that race Francie. Decent track form and I think Adam Short is an improving young jockey.
    Good luck.

Pivotal is not or never has been a sire whose progeny need or want rattling fast ground.

Statistics suggest it prefer good ground.

Pivotal has an exceptional soft ground record also, proper all round sire. It's dangerous to assume that a horse is going to improve for certain ground simply due to the sire unless the sires record is extremely skewed in favour of one way or the other.

Can't help but have an ew on SHALAMAN at 10/1 in that race. Might be a bit late at 8 to go hurdling but is by far the highest rated of these on the flat and Matthew Smyth is 3-8 with hurdlers at the track.

Well seeing as the 5 horses given so far won't win I may as well put my money on Comber Mill @ 10-1 !

    Good Luck Francie

    My Picks for today are

    Sweetest Taboo 6/1 Generally 2pts 3.20 Naas

A lot of money coming for True Valour in the listed 505 at Naas, and he did run well beating a Yulong first timer and Pennsylvania, but I think the listed race that Khukri won over a week ago will throw up subsequent listed winners. Radio Silence at 8/1 should run well in the circumstances.

Harringtons horse (Alpha Centuari) in the first well fancied too.

@Francie. I think deBroms horse Ornua will win the race your putting your neck on the line for.

    Best priced 6/4 now.

Ornua's run @ Clonmel in December was decent though... so I'll watching rather than betting that race, but 7/2 was a decent price though, I'd back it had I got that price for sure.... best of luck.

Oscar Rose, 5/4 @ Warwick, only bet I'll be having today.

Solo Mission looks a lay to me in the 5:50 @ Yarmouth later.

I know it's a Class 6 but 4/7 about a horse that has shown little seems crazy.

It's a weak race and is upped in trip for handicap debut, should show a lot more now, 8/15 now - crazy price agreed.
