Hyundai i30 brake problem

    Hello i have a 11 i30 1.6D with 80,000 miles on it.

I first started to notice my front right brake disc used get very hot and i could smell burning from it, but then i found out all 4 wheels get too hot but in particular the front two, sometimes they do heat and sometimes they dont. my first suspicion was the brake calipers

I took the car to a local independent garage who confirmed that the brake calipers are not sticking
So he suspected it was the abs unit so he rang a company who rebuild abs units and they said they never done a i30 abs unit ever

So he rang the local hyundai garage and the mechanic on the phone said he has not experienced a faulty abs unit but he remembered a simular problem with a i20 and that it was the master cylinder that was the problem

Im just curious had anyone experienced and simular problems with other cars or in particular a hyundai. Any advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated

Just a update had the car at the garage yesterday, there was 4 new brake pads put in it when i bought it the front two were completely gone afterv 20,000 miles i also had a brand new brake master cylinder put in

The problem is still there unfortunately after a 15 min drive to work, the front two brake discs are absolutely roasting

Its a strange problem on short drives the brake discs get increadibly hot. But after long hour + drives my front brake discs will be cold

3 diferent hyundai garages said the Abs unit does not cause trouble and the place in cork who refurbish abs units have never done a i30 abs unit before so are there any other posible causes?? The calipers were checked again yesterday along with the hoses and all is fine

I drive an i30 as a company car(t), I've experienced a complete brake failure, it was actually the abs unit refusing to provide any breaking.

Garage said that no problem could be found.
I put my complaint in writing to my employer, and escalated it a few levels, So if it happens again, I'll have a nice claim, should something bad happen.

I wouldn't spend a penny of my own money on a Russian built chinese/Korean owned piece of shīt.

A cop was telling me the same thing happened him in a marked car ;)

Could it be that the brakes overheating is boiling the brake fluid causing it to be ineffective?

Definitely wasn't boiling brake fluid in my case.

I had an issue about 20 years ago when I left my company car in for a service. The "mechanic" hammered the shoes over the drum pads on the back wheels.

The adjusters were not slackened off and the brake pads were rubbing against the drums.

I did not notice and drove for about 20 miles and going through a village I pressed the brakes to slow down and the pedal went to the floor. I managed to stop and the rear wheels were very hot. Went to a garage to hose down the wheels to cool them down.

It transpired that the cause of the brake failure was the fluid heating/boiling due to incorrectly fitted drums.

With the same main dealers, there was an intermittent fault where the safety belt randomly unclipped. The lad in the garage was poking around with a small screwdriver in the mechanism.

Asked the lad could he guarantee that in the event of a crash the seat belt would hold me when he was finished messing at the seat belt.

He ordered a new seat belt buckle assembly, and when the fitted it they never removed the safety clips on the pre-tensioners.
