Drugs Payment Scheme and Med1 tax relief

    It looks like I will have to go on the Drugs Payment Scheme - which is €140/month. Is it possible to claim this as a tax rebate via Revenue's Med1 form at the end of the year?


    (Naturally, i'd have rang revenue but outside of working hours right now).

    Yes it is. Ask you pharmacy for a printout of whatever you spent on prescriptions in 2016 and add that into your medical expenses on the Med 1 form that your submitting for 2016

    They had been including those for some smaller item that I had been getting from time to time - but threw them away. Isn't there a basic threshold before the ability to gain the rebate kicks in??

    No, whatever you spent on prescriptions, GPS fees, private consultants, hospital admissions etc, all lumped together and you'll get 20% back.
    You don't have to send the receipts but you have to keep them handy in case they look for them
