My family have recently been offered a council house, we went to the cwo and have the forms filled out and ready to go, just need a signed lease which we will have thurs, but wont be able to see cwo till tues next week.

The house is bare with no appliances or flooring, and we have no furniture of our own, only clothes to move it with.

Does anyone know how much they usually give to help furnish and floor a house? we would need 3 beds and appliances at the very least, and dinner ware, bed clothes etc. We literally own nothing to move into a house, maybe a handfull of towels

Or how long it takes to get a decision on the payment? We have 3.5 weeks to move from getting the keys, but 5 days till we can even see the cwo again. I worry well have to move in without even beds to sleep on.

if it makes a dif my husband is on jsa and im on disability. We have a very small amount of savings that is to replace our dyin car as i cant walk very much so need to be able to take kids to school etc, and it wouldnt be enough to furnish and floor a house anyway.

The CWO will give you a grant to cover the cost of flooring IF there is only bare concrete, and a washing machine, fridge and cooker. They will also cover the cost of beds but that's about it.

Everything else you'll have to pay for.
Go to a department store and get quotes for these items, bring them to the CWO and they will issue you a cheque in the name of the department store of your choice, fairly soon after, like a week thereabouts.

The CWO mentioned nothing about getting quotes for various things, she just asked for proof of the council house (lease), proof of our currant address adn 6 months bank statements, and the form filled out for the exceptional needs grant.

We have all of this ready to go, I was hoping to get a rough idea of howmuch this could amount to. From pics weve seen on the cbl site of the other half fof the houses avail, it is just bare concrete in the downstairs, unsure of the upstairs. And we wont get to see the house till we get keys tomorrow.

Im worried as we only have 3 weeks to move and a week of that will be waiting to get to see the cwo again as well miss her clinic tomorrow and next isnt till tuesday :(

    thank you loveinapril!

This has been an awful couple of years for us and we only got the house because i was diagnosed with a life threatening illness in december which im still not clear of (or dunno if i ever will be)

Ive started making a list and i have purchased dinner ware and cutlery and glasses. So at least that is a start. Im only really worried abot flooring/beds/appliances as 3.5 weeks seems like a long time but with me barely able to walk up stairs without having to sit down and 2 kiddos in schools in dif towns its rough.
Im also in cork so ikea is out, altho omg i wish i could go! The things i would buy haha

Been having a peek on adverts and notings come up locally yet, was hoping to get cheap bedframes for the kids at least instead of spending 200euro a pop on wooden ones (my 5yr old has already broken 1 divan, hes very active)

Just hoping it wont take more than the 2 days bwetween clinics to get a decision, as then we will be moving in with no flooring or beds/appliances :(

May I ask how much you got in the end?
