Change email server to google

Hi all,

Can some one advise please.

I have 2 email addresses, a personal gmail one that I use on my phone and tablet, and a work eircom.net one that I use on windows mail on pc.

I have had issues with the eircom.net one in the past and it is a real hassle trying to reset passwords that were created years ago.

I would like to change from the eircom server to google. But I dont want all my work emails showing up with my personal ones on the phone and tablet.
Obviously both email addresses need to stay the same.

How do I do this?

Just create a new gmail address and forward all your email from your eircom one to it.

That would mean eircom.net address is still on their server which is what I dont want

You can't keep the eircom.net address without that happening (unless Eir agree to configure it, which they almost certainly won't)

So prob no point in setting it up on google at all then?

It's possible to manage your eircom account via Gmail, you could set up labels and view it on the same personal account, or set up another account for this address specifically, but I'm pretty sure you still need to rely on the eircom servers to actually send the mail to Gmail in the first place!

There may be a way to change this through DNS and Nameservers, but I know nothing about either really other than hearing them mentioned for similar things before.
