Reshoots. The original back half was to be completely different; the finale was to be set in space, but matched the beats of Captain Marvels own 3rd act so much, Kimberly & co. felt they had to completely rewrite their own. Not sure if that necessarily included the apartment tussle, but it did feel weirdly disconnected from that point on, so probably was.

this i don't get, who cares if the movies are similar? There was nothing particularity unique about the ending of Captain Marvel, theyre different movies with different basis unless you telling there was some pre-existing copyright dispute over the captain marvel and dark phoenix comic books arcs. who cares. Go to space. Go big or go home.

That would like Dredd having to move the film to a ship because The Raid already did it in an apartment building

It wasn't just that it involved space. The aliens in Dark Phoenix were originally going to be Skrulls, which obviously has crossover, then the ending was going to have two female characters with similar looking powers flying off into space.

Did I say it was better?

The similarities were more than 'go to space', which they did in Dark Phoenix anyway.

Thought it was fine. Not anyway as bad as i was expecting after all the bad noise. Some of the actors looked like they were done with it

Heard it was bad so never got around to watching. Threw it on the other night out of boredom. Somehow worse than I expected! It confirms that Sophie Turner can't act, but I knew that from GoT anyway. But my god, they made some terrible decisions and completely destroyed any good work that First Class and DoFP had done (Apocalypse was alright). Just terrible from start to finish. Can't recall anything redeeming about it, even the uniforms were crap.

Hope Marvel/Disney do something decent with them.
