Ok, so I am looking at water softener for the house. I had talked a few times to EWT a few times as I thought they where the only show in town

I was at ideal home yesterday and there was a couple of companies around.

Really I am looking for water softener for mains but I also want a tap to provide good clean water for drinking.

has anyone this installed? Which would be best system

I have documentation for other companies but of course forgot it in car so will update post later

    Hi,

Got my Ecowater ESM 25 last year from this company HERE.
More info about the product HERE.

What can i say: product works fine and my wife said that it's the best change ever done to our home: no more messy cutlery,no more lines of "dirt" on the shower glass and bath and well, the skin feels really softener after, "trust me" on that! :)
Installed it in the attic, the main water supply pipe coming through the device first then across the whole house.
Premium Salt, i will say,at full tank of 4 bags, the remote wall mounted mini computer display have estimated at 10 months.

I have also a separate water filter with 7 stages, bought from another supplier and works perfect, with a real visible and tasty difference to drinkable water.
We change the filters every 6 months.

I guess you may be able to source a system that does both in a single unit !??

    Enjoy it.

I have outlined some tips on buying water systems that we use on a daily basis as we continue to research the market for quality systems at reasonable prices. I hope this helps.

THE DO’S AND DON’T’S OF BUYING A WATER SYSTEM

    DO *** DON’T
    * Research on quality, running costs, brand, aftercare service & price. *Just buy a softener because it is the cheapest. You would not do that buying a car or washing machine without knowing the brand or dealer.
*Check the source of the water softener – Where is it made. *Buy a cheap water softener which may be difficult to get parts for in the future when they fail. Think 5 – 10 years down the road.
*Check manufacturer of the valve on your water softener. *Buy a cheap water softener from a manufacturer you cannot get in touch with should you have problems with it or the company who supplied it
    * Check you can get in touch with the manufacturer of your softener. to you, who may not stand over warranties they gave you when you have a problem.
    * Check the warranty offered. 5 years is a standard good warranty. *Be fooled into lifetime warranties that you actually pay for every year when warranties are subject to annual service fees.
    * Check warranty is on parts and labour. * Assume warranty covers labour also as this can lead to excessive labour charges.
    * Select a well known brand that you recognise where possible. *Just buy a softener because it is the cheapest. Sometimes cheap is a waste of money. Would you buy an unknown brand of washing machine?
    * Check system is energy star rated, CE and IS09001 standard. *Buy a softener without all of these quality standards. Make sure your system is safe, economical and will not leak burst or corrode.
*Check the system is economical to run. *Some softeners use a lot more salt than others. Cheap models have less technology and tend to use a lot more salt.
*Check salt consumption and salt levels in water after the softener. *Many cheap models leave huge amounts of salt in water which can be corrosive.
*Make sure the company you buy from have a great reputation. *Settle for anything less than great installation and after care service.

No matter what price you pay, it is a substantial investment and you deserve to get a system that works great with a company who look after you.

The two companies I talked to

    Perfect Water Systems Ltd
They said other systems recycle the water and this means they are less efficient compared to there system. Cost was €1950 and then with tape was €2450. At the show price was €2050, Kinetico Premier Compact was system

The tap was strange as it fed straight off the system so you got all the iron etc according to them from the water. Tasted a bit strange

Second was Icewater Premium Filtered Water
Price was 2k something as well. Was talking to a lady and she just kept on going on that it was an Italian system. Also you could get the tap part to fire out sparkling water. Wife liked that bit. The drinking water was very good.

I see from flyer here for Perfect water it mentions regeneration time and then volume of water? I guess this is what he meant when he said it was more efficient....

Well, the first one is compact and under the sink.
Second, not enough information on the website to make a wise decision.

My drinkable water filter looks like this one, fitted under the kitchen, easy and DIY. And it has a second tap that does only the filter.
Filters changed very 6 months, comuter does all the magic work.
Without the pressure pump, the system takes ages to even fill a glass...

Which ever you buy, make sure you get the waranty right and not lastly, parts and filters.
Salt, use only premium quality and get at least 2 sets of filters to have it in your storage.

Thanks, that looks similar to what EWT offer. Reverse Osmosis system is what EWT have and they offer a per month cost I need to check into more. So 5 euro a month, what I would like is for the 5 euro a month that after 2 years you own the system.....will update when I check with them

Did that company you linked to do the whole installation for you? Or you buy and install yourself?

I got a similar looking system fitted by Celtic Water in Galway.
    Very happy with it.
And they had a big distance to come to fit it!

My personal belief is that without a computer AND a presurized pump and storage cylinder you will have troubles using the system, day by day !

The computer controls the system, filters quality/timing and the RO membrane wash-up /clean-up.
The pressurised sysem gives you a decent pressure and storage of around 12 litres anytime,so that you can drink a glas of water or fill a pot rapid.

Not lastly, the filter removes most of the good elements from the water !! What do you have to replenish / compensate for that ?
I have 3 filters post RO that adds minerals,Ph and few crystals back in to the water .
