I just watched an epsiode of scanall on rte player with a macbook pro via hdmi and the buffering was unreal!! It reminded me of a dial up connection. I was using wi fi first and then switched to a cable but no difference. Is this caused by that latest software update?

I looked at the F2000 and it had a tick against bandwidth limit that I dont recall doing!

I turned off that new wi fi option in my account. But how do I know its turned off on the router??

    help

It's generally terrible, even on a super fast connection it's near unusable due to the way ads are inbedded in it.

Not sure if the next generation RTÉ Player will make any difference, an article about it in the Sunday Indo - RTE's next-generation Player due by 2017

RTE is to launch a significantly upgraded version of its video-on-demand service RTE Player later this year.

The new technology will play a key part in the broadcaster's strategy to compete in a digital TV market in which new services such as Netflix are gaining ground.

It is understood the next-generation platform, which is being developed with a number of international partners, involves an investment of close to €1m.
    ...
At present, content on RTE Player is available for 30 days from broadcast but in the new system content will be available for much longer periods.

The tender for RTÉ's Next Generation Player was published about 2 years ago - https://irl.eu-supply.com/app/rfq/publicpurchase_frameset.asp?PID=86163&B=ETENDERS_SIMPLE&PS=1&PP=
