Upgrade and Selling advice

Hey Guys, looking to upgrade my 2004 Mazda by the tail end of this year, my budget is around 5 grand and maybe some extra depending on the sale of the former car?

Can anyone suggest a reliable enough car for this kind of money? I was looking up hyundai I30s and they look nice enough. Wouldn't mind another hatchback to tide me over. I will not be doing much mileage just a ten mile or so commute to work and maybe 160mile round trip over the weekend on occasional trips home?

Also whats my best option with the reselling of the car? unfortunately its not a dud but there is a issue with leaky valve seals and I am not getting much more than 500 miles to a 500 ml of oil as it consumes said oil.
My mechanic said it wasn't worth fixing as the car would either A) need a new engine or B) A refurb. Would I get anything for it even as a part car?

I'd say you be lucky to get couple of hundred quid for your Mazda, maybe just better off scrapping it and trying to get a few quid off next car for a straight sale.

It sounds like you are on the right track looking at I30's, they are a fine car, petrol is the best option for you with mileage you are doing. I'm assuming it's a Mazda 3 you are replacing?

    Something like this looks good.....

Should be able to get a good few years motoring out of that hassle free

It is indeed a Mazda 3. Yeah I was thinking I be lucky to get anything for it now.

That is exactly the kinda car I would be looking for alright for hassle free motoring.

    Thanks man!
