Just wondering if anyone out there has been successful in claiming a tax relief via the HRI scheme with IKEA. We had a new kitchen put in last Autumn.
    THanks !

Afaik IKEA kitchens are not eligible for the HRI grant as the vat charged is 23%. Was it installed by them directly or was there another fitter involved?

Hi.Thanks for your reply. It was installed by them also. Cant figure out how they can just blanket charge 23% VAT on the whole thing?? Any thoughts on that?

I think it's because you buy the kitchen, then buy the fitting service separately.

Ive been told that its possible if you get a fitter to buy the kitchen from ikea on your behalf, and get them to install and invoice for the whole thing.

The scheme is do with relief on the 13.5% vat rate only that is provided on supplies and materials, rather than the retail rate of 23% imposed on ikea. Kitchen is a kitchen as far as the customer is concerned, but not for the revenue.
