Yanmar excavator advice needed

    Hi all,

I have a Yanmar Vio30 3 ton excavator here on rubber tracks. Earlier one of the tracks came off on rough ground. Can't pop it back on so need to remove the grease nipple to let pressure off. Problem is all the other grease nipples on the machine have 11mm (hex part) nipples but 11mm socket won't fit on the one at the track. A 10mm seems to fit on alright but won't turn and I don't want to force the issue and accidentally round it.

    Am I missing something here?

Clean down the area around the "grease nipple" and see if there is a bigger hexnut, any track I've had to slacken off was 19mm or larger otherwise it would take an age for the grease to come out.

There is a larger hex nut 24mm or bigger but its so offset from the access point that we cant get either socket or spanner on it.

The M 24 bolt is your track tensioner relief bolt. Loosen it off should expell the grease out. The grease nipple is only for pumping the grease back in

Thanks all. Twas a 27mm nut and very difficult to access but we got it sorted and we're rolling again.
