Nexus 7 USB charging port.

    Hi.

The USB charging port on my 2013 nexus7 has finally taken all the abuse it could take from two kids unplugging and plugging it in over the years, that it's barely charging now, it takes several minutes of wriggling the charge cable for a charge to happen.

Even when I initiate a charge, you must set the tablet down with surgeon like precision so as not to disturb the cable, and thus interrupting the charge.

The tablet has served me well over the years, I got it on 2014 , it's been well protected in a good quality cover, still flys along, so I see no need to chuck it in a bin just yet.

Just wondering if this is a widely carried out repair in the Dublin/Naas area? If so, any idea how much?

Lastly, is it a repair I could do myself?

    Thanks in advance, Alf.

Plenty of repair places will do it it's pretty common,

And yes you could easily do it yourself I've done it twice on the 2012 version ,
The USB Board can be bought on line pretty cheap , plenty of guides on YouTube

Already fixed it via my jewellers repair kit and using a YouTube guide.

But does this device actually use wireless charging:confused:

I've had one in a press (official Samsung one) that I have never used (becase fast charging came along).

I could have been using wireless charging all all along:eek:?

Lol, I class myself as a bit of a gadget geek and have had this for almost three years, had absolutely no idea that it supported wireless charging:P

Charged it wirelessly last night, didn't take that long either. Also as already mentioned fixed the usb port too.

There's life in the old girl yet. :)

Both wireless charging and USB charging have given up the ghost on mine. Wireless gone altogether and USB takes several days to charge, and then it drains away quickly. I'm going to do a full tear-down and rebuild to give it one last chance before I bin it

Got a magnetic USB cable, the adapter stays permanently in the USB port, eliminating wear from constant insertion/withdrawal

Some of them are utter junk, mine worked for a week so buy a known brand.
