Looking at buying a new car in coming months and availing of scrappage scheme. Currently driving a 2001 car and have been for past 2 years. However the car is registered in my father's name and I'm a named driver on his insurance as I was being charged massive money if i took out my own policy.

Will be buying new car with my girlfriend but only thought now that car is registered in father's name aswell as insurance which could be a stumbling block. If i explained situation to garage would they accept my current car or does it have to be in buyers name.

I could change ownership into my own name but wondering if would have to wait 6 months then until i could purchase and planned on buying in July when 172's are released.

Had you priced your own insurance with your dad as a named driver?
Thevschemes vary in terms and conditions, not all need you to own the car 6 months.

Just ask the dealers, some have strict rules, some not so much, it's up to them really.

Will you be financing through PCP/HP?

No won't be going PCP. Will have the funds myself. Will get in touch with a few garages to suss out where they stand on it.
