Startrite band saw

Hey folks. First time to post in this forum, but I'm hoping somebody can help me out.

I've had a thread running on the diy forum for about a month now regarding an old startrite vertical band saw I managed to acquire.

    http://touch.boards.ie/thread/2057719583/1

Above is the entire thread, with relevant photos, but the gist of it is that the saw will start maybe 5 times in a row, or maybe just once, before blowing the plug top fuse (13amp). Checked the inrush current, 40amps with the blade on, 34-39ish with no blade. Drops off to about 3.5amps in both cases after start up. Only ever blows on start up, never during cutting.

Has always been on a 13 amp plug. Both the driven wheel and free wheel turn freely.

It anybody has any advice, or any other questions that I can answer or clarify, I would greatly appreciate it

    Cheers

Clear from the pics, that the blade alignment is incorrect.

On both wheels the blade is in full contact with the running tyre, which is incorrect, as this puts extra pressure
on the tyres, and therefore on the motor.

Correctly set, the teeth of the blade should clear the edge of the tyre, and therefore there would be less blade in contact
with the tyre, reducing the pressure.

On the blade guide rear bearing, a closer pic is needed, as it may be installed incorrectly.
Left and right blade contact guides need to be in close proximity to the blade, but not vice like contact

Excellent, thank you very much. If I were to take some more pictures would you be willing to take a look for me. I really appreciate it

So I adjusted the blade on the wheels so that the teeth sit clear of the rubber, image attached. Is this the correct position, because I got three starts before the fuse blew.

Sorry for the multiple posts, photos are too big for more than one order post.

With the blade adjusted as above, it leaves the blade very close to the bed of the saw, so much so that without pressure from cutting, the teeth rattle on the edge

Last post, photo attached showing a better shot of the guide bearing

    Something still not right here.

From the table view, the blade definitely looks to be too far forward in relation to the bed,
as well as the blade guide now looks to be in the wrong position.

can you tell me the model number, if there is one.?

Couldn't see a model number. It is a Startrite Bandit upright band saw. Attached is the plate from the side of the saw
