    Hi,

I have a grim little concrete patio area outside the back door, I was thinking it'd be nice to paint the concrete to brighten it up a bit, as I can't afford tiles. Can I just buy exterior paint and have at it? Or what would be the best way of going about it. I've never painted a thing in my life.

You will want the concrete to be clean and dry before painting but apart from that you can just have at it as long as you have the correct paint. You should buy paint specifically for concrete floors. Regular external wall paint wont hold up well after a year or two of people walking on it.

Just google "floor paint" or go to your local paint supplier.
