Havent a breeze where to post this so if anyone has any advice would be great.

Ive read about sensory processing disorder which could be something along the lines i have. However i can't find anywhere something that likes mine. Mine is a visual sensitivity to EVERYTHING. If I'm in my house i have to constantly cover my eyes cause they feel "overwhelmed" when around objects that are close to me. Being in a shop thats small or big that has a lot going on like if i was at a dvd stand or something holding something it all just irritates my eyes and have to cover up. It doesnt hurt but just gives a weird sensation.

I can't sleep at night without the cover being over my head. Beside my bed is cabinets with handles on them and that has always irritated me and caused me to cover up. I recently took it off but still everything being so close around causing my eyes to overwhelm.

I remember it started actually maybe when i was 9 or 10 or a bit less but i used to do piano lessons in a very small box room and i remember stopping and going i need to stop and cover my eyes. Everything was so close and the bright lights too just overwhelmed me. However bright lights have never bothered me.

Im trying to think why this happened, its more than likely neurological but i wonder that a vaccines jabs when i was younger or the small mercury fillings i have give me toxic levels or was it just bound to happen.

I posted here because i know these sensory disorders are common with kids so maybe some of you can help with experience

    thanks

Have you spoken to your GP?

It definitely sounds sensory, or neurological, but the only way it can be investigated is by a referral from your GP to a relevant specialist.

No i havent but i suppose it would be a good idea. Gonna be hard to explain cause doctors over here are useless they would rather say its all in your head and tell you something otherwise.

Doctors over where? If you're not happy with your GP, change. You can't say the GP will dismiss you if you've never spoken to them about it. Plenty of good doctors around who will listen to you and forward you on you the relevant place. GPs are very limited in what they can do. Especially when it comes to specialist areas. That's why they will refer you on to a specialist and then work with them to manage the condition.

You could see an occupational therapist privately if you wanted too. My daughter has SPD and the OT diagnosed it.

Have you been to an optician ? They can refer you on to specialists if it is sight related .

OP this is actually the only idea you should be thinking about rather than self-diagnosing on google or assuming your GP knows nothing about or doesn't understand hypersensitivity.

That's all I'm willing to say about it as with respect I don't want to give you any information which may be misleading, other than please see your GP as a recommended course of action.

Not sure if it's the same thing (or a different strain) but I'll throw it out there anyway...

My daughter (6) was identified as being Highly Sensitive - In her case it was spotted by a play therapist who has been helping her deal with some anxiety issues she's had since she got sick in school a few months ago. We've had a totally different child since about the 3rd session. This checklist might help: http://hsperson.com/test/highly-sensitive-child-test/

it seems very similar - although the extent to which she is being overwhelmed is not as severe as you have described in your OP.

i think ill go to the GP and get referred to a specialist, see where it takes me. I havent found anything online related to my problem only light sensitivity. So probably rare enough and whats been keeping me from seeing one because i can't find anything on it. I feel theres nothing to do for it really since its neurological but who knows.

Overall i would say i am a highly sensitive , i have anxiety that was brought on by something a few years back.

I might try homeopathy see this that help at all although it seems controversial. Ill book in for the doctor soon and ill report back.
