Which one?

My last 2 phones have been Apple. My current 5s is starting to show signs of battery age and the 16GB memory is a pain. No matter how much I clear, within an hour something in the memory has expanded and I'm low on storage again. The newer iPhones don't offer anything 'must-have' so I'm going to give android a go.

I'm heading out of Europe soon so I was thinking of getting an S8 or Pixel while abroad. Or waiting til I get back to get a one plus 3T. I can't get the differences between them straight in my head and I'm going nuts trying to!
Whatever I get it has to be simple and seamless to use, e.g. easy app killing & deleting. Battery has to last at least a day with moderate internet browsing & texting. Also battery should give me a few years. I'm not a keen photographer but I do snap away and have printed stuff for special occasions. I don't (yet) watch netflix etc on my phone but I would read books.
    So... any recommendations?

If you dont mind spending then probably S8. Newer phone and all. Camera and screen going to be great, no doubt.

Pixel, if you prefer all the latest and greatest software updates Quickly from Google.

Price to performance - Oneplus 3T or if you prefer wait till july/aug when Oneplus 4/5 will be out.

I am using oneplus 3T and quite happy with it.

I've changed from a 5s to a Oneplus 3t in the last couple of weeks and it's been pretty seemless.

Loving the phone so far and the OS has been very easy to get to grips with.

All depends on how much you want to spend or if money is not object. S8 and Pixel are a lot more money.

Yeah the S8 is the newest of them but I thought the other two were still close comparisons?
Samsung gives the impression of being the most Apple-like but I've read that the software isn't the best? And that the curved screen can be annoying if used one handed? (False touches registered?) Is the S8 also the only one that's water proof? More for getting caught in rain than going swimming!
The one plus 3T is the cheapest, but then if it's going to be obsolete in 3 months... plus the gimmicky unimportant stuff like wireless charging and barometer aren't in it.
The Pixel is closer to the S8 price wise and gimmicks but it has the lowest specs?

If I have been institutionalised by iOS and can't get to grips with android which handset would retain the highest resale value? Assuming no scratches or other damage..

ETA: I also use my iPhone as a wifi hotspot... I assume all androids can do the same?

If you have no budget restrictions, then get the S8. It will have the latest and best features, and best resale value. The software on Samsungs is decent these days, it adds extra functionality without bloating everything and making the OS completely ugly like years ago.

If your budget is for midrange, then get the OnePlus. You will miss out on a few features, but resale value will still be decent in relation to your initial outlay.

There's actually loads of decent options with Android, you could easily have one of a dozen different devices, and I'm sure you'd be more than happy with it.

All Androids can act as WiFi hotspots.

Again it depends on how much you want to spend. Which ever one you buy, it's a lot of money to spend to see if you can get used to Android.

Also saying the oneplus will be obsolete in 3 months is a bit like saying the iPhone 7 will be obsolete in 6 months. The Oneplus will still be a phone that is less than a year on the market in 3 months and will get plenty of support/updates.

You need to decide what features are important to you in a phone and if you are prepared to pay a premium for certain features. If waterproofing is important then you have the S8 but if that's the only reason you are paying hundreds of euro more than a Oneplus for it.

The Oneplus is the first Android phone I've owned having had both windows and iPhones(and owning a lot of Apple products) and the transition really has been painless.
