So, a relative is considering buying a new Skoda Octavia. Skoda will give a cash discount of about €1800 but allow €3500 if they "scrap" any car thats taxed and has a valid NCT (and driving I presume). Anyone able to point me in the direction of the cheapest (maybe even free) car near Dublin that they could buy to then pass on to Skoda? I'm struggling to figure out how to only find cars on Donedeal with tax and NCT.

I thought you had to have the car a certain length of time before it qualified for scrappage? I could be mistaken...

I asked the Skoda salesman that very same question and he said no, you could buy the scrap car today and avail of the scrappage deal tomorrow, as long as you have the reg cert and the car has NCT and tax, forgot to ask if it has to be in the new buyers name but I assume it does, so that takes about 10 days to change ownership.

I know some other manufacturers say you must have owned it for a certain length of time but Skoda don't seem to care.

Adverts allows to search for car with valid tax and nct, and sorting by price.

Excellent, now why doesn't Donedeal have the same option? Having a vaild NCT seems an obvious one even if tax isn't.
