List of firms registered to remove asbestos?

Is there a list of specialist building firms who are registered to remove asbestos? My neighbours have builders in, and their planning permission said they'd get a specialist firm. There's a van full of general builders and "roofing contractors" working at the moment, but they don't seem the most competent…

Also, their planning permission was supposed to mean they didn't start work early in the morning - earlier than 8am on weekdays, as far as I remember. They started at 7.30 this morning, which seems to augur badly for the future. If this continues, who do I contact to enforce the planning decision?

The removal of the stuff has to be done safely and is regulated by the HSA. The guys that transport and dispose of it have to be registered with the local council.

The asbestos stuff should be reported to the HSA and the enforcement officer in the LA but neither will appear till Wednesday next at the earliest so it will all be gone off site by then.

Some of the best breaches of H&S and Planning regs are carried out this weekend:

The LA won't get involved in the unsafe removal of the asbestos. We get the complaints every second day and we immediately refer them to the workplace unit of the HSA.

We will ask the owner to confirm what transport/disposal company they are using and follow up with confirmation that they used them.

Agreed, the LA will create a second call to the HSA...
    Happy Easter to all
