Sound travelling from neighbours tv to all around my house

Is there any quick fix to reduce sound travelling from my neighbours house to our house? My neighbours are not noisy neighbours, they're just normal!!! They have their TV up against the wall that separates our houses, and I swear to god.. I can hear the TV throughout my house. It has woken up our 7 month old baby a few times now. The sound insulation in this house is crap... Is there any quick fix, or is it a matter of employing some company to come in and insulate the house acoustically.

Right now I have had to turn up my tv to hear it above my neighbours

There's no quick fix, only dirty expensive fix.

The only quick fix would be to go talk to them and see if they would consider turning it down or moving it when you explain the impact it's having. Lots of TV's nowadays have crap speakers and more and more people are buying soundbars, sub-woofers etc. I wonder if your neighbor has one of these, if it's the bassier/boomy sounds you hear then than can usually be sorted by muffling the sub-woofer without overly effecting what they are listening to. I wonder are they hearing your baby crying a lot also if walls are really that bad.

In terms of soundproofing - as the other poster mentioned, it can get quite expensive. At the same time, it's more about lessening what you are hearing to an acceptable level to you rather than actually truly "soundproofing".

I'd say starting point is my first suggestion, if that doesn't work then research a little on it so you understand what general sound frequencies your trying to reduce (i.e. voices vs boomy/bass noises). Then it's either try something on the scale of DIY options or hire a contractor to advise and do it for you.
There's a chap I had a consult from before who charges €50 and explains everything to you, could be worth a look..it's one of the first few hits when you google soundproofing in Ireland so you should find him no prob. I ended up doing it myself as it was only 1 room and I was just looking to reduce noise by half (which I ended up doing).

    Best of luck
