Hope someone can help. I accidentally knocked the panic alarm sensor off the wall today and the alarm is now saying tamper zone 4 eol, 14 call engineer. It won't set properly either. Any suggestions on how to clear it, I've put the alarm sensor back in place. Don't know engineer code.

You should not need the engineer code.
Did the cables come out of the device.

If you can post a picture more than happy to help you put it back together.

You prob cant post a picture with a low post count.

    You will have 3 terminals.

If red and black are used.

Red in the two outside terminals and the two black twisted together into the middle one. This is if its in the middle of a loop.

End of line would be red in first terminal, resister leg into outer terminal other leg twisted with the black into the middle terminal.

If it's saying tamper EOL. It would mean the panel can't see the EOL resistor because of a short on the cable. This could possibly be caused if the device is damaged. If you disconnect the cables does it change to tamper open.?
A pic would be handy. If you can't upload here maybe put it elsewhere and post a link to it.

Thanks so much for replying, this is the sensor that came off but I think it's put back ok, the wires didn't detach from the little black bit.

And the cover slots back on fine, no damage 2 it either

The connection block appears to be upside down.

Connection block? The black part, I just slotted it in that way seems to fit naturally like that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22 lauraq

is this correct. It won't fit the other way?

The connections need to be to the bottom.

Thats it.Does the lid close and lock in at that?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22 lauraq

It does close but won't lock tightly, have put masking tape to keep it tight. The 2 gold pins are intact and fit into the connection block.

And what error are you getting?
If it does not lock closed you would be better off taking it off. It will only drive you mad going off.

When I go to set it it's now saying zone 4 tamper open?

  • Moderators, Home & Garden Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators Posts: 24,789 Mod ✭✭✭✭KoolKid

I'd say the Panic Button is damaged.
If you wire one cable to each leg of the resistor does it show closed?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22 lauraq

Koolkid, don't really feel confident enough to take the wires out and connect to resistor, would they not be live? Sorry for all the questions

  • Moderators, Home & Garden Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators Posts: 24,789 Mod ✭✭✭✭KoolKid

No not live. Just wire the other cable in with single side of the resistor in the block.

Ok thanks, have 2 do it tomorrow. Child asleep in room now.

No problem. Come back to us if you need anything.

I have a similar problem to lauraq. I have just moved into a house with an Astec 63D alarm. The control alarm is flashing "14 call engineer". When I try to set the alarm it says "zone 4 tamper eol". I have no idea what this means - I am a novice to alarm system - never had one before. There is no obvious damage to the panic button or any of the window contacts. The system was flashing this message when we moved in - so I have no idea what if anything happened previously.

    Any ideas?

    Much appreciated

It could be a fault on the cable for that zone or a faulty sensor.
Do you have a multi meter to see what the resistance on that zone is reading ?

    Unfortunately, I do not.

Is there any way of deactivating the panic button?

    Thanks

Is that the only thing on that zone?
It may not be the panic that is causing the problem.
Are any lids loose on sensors on the zone?

The only other thing in the zone are the windows contacts and all the covers seem fine.

I must admit that I am assuming it is a panic button it does look like the line drawing you posted earlier in the thread.

If they are all on the one zone then you would need to find the issue.
Id advise having it looked at if you dont have a meter.
    No point second guessing.

The tamper EOL usually indicates a short on the cable that it can't see the end of line.
If you remove the end of line resistor & wire it in series with the zone in the panel & check each device in turn. The problem will be between the last working device & the first one that does not activate.
