Sinking Garden Furniture!!!!

I would like to have some garden seating in my back garden. I know that eventually I will have a patio installed where this can be placed. However, a patio is out of the question for a couple of years. Finance would be a problem! We have damp soil here so I know that the garden furniture will most likely sink. Until I have a patio- is there any way of getting around this? Is there any type of cheap temporary flooring or matting that I can purchase and place as a stop gap in the area to support the seating where I will one day have a patio? Any ideas please?

If you put in a grid stabilisation system you might not need the patio at all.

Not sure how well this would work with your furniture, depends on the size of the feet and load.

Thanks - looks like more work than I'm willing to put in for a small area and for a temporary measure! But, I can certainly see the economic benefits in another situ.

For now you could just cut up some sections of this stuff and stick it under the feet.

Ah right. You can order them online (e.g. 'grass stabilisation' on amazon.co.uk).

You might need to put some gravel in the grids to support the cells. Might look a bit weird. I guess if you don't care about the grass underneath you could use anything free-draining, like wire mesh, and then pin it into the ground with bent coathangers or whatever.
