They were that low back then but the closer to high season(summer) the more expensive they become.

Gonna further extend this BA for those who can travel from UK, either you live there or you can get a cheap ryanair to link up

My daughter rang me last night saying she had a week off at end of April and was looking for somewhere different to go, and knowing i'm a whiz at finding great deals she asked me to help, here's what i found for her, which she booked

Return flight from Manchester to Madeira - 60STG Mon April 24th to Friday April 28th
