Buying suits / dress etc. in Bangkok

    Hi all,

Have a wedding in the family this year, and as it happens the bride and groom will be in Bangkok for a week or so, some months before the big day. Question is: is there anything wedding related that might be worth picking up over there, whereby it might be possible to make a worthwhile saving? Thinking of suits, evening dresses, perhaps gifts and such like. Be delighted to hear of anyone's experience with this. Thanks!

The groom could get a suit made. There are a couple of good tailors there and a lot of bad ones so do your research.

If they were looking for unique tableware / items for the tables / lanterns / wedding favours etc to post back, the Chatuchak weekend market is full of cool and unusual stuff.

As for a wedding dress, they could get something made but it might be diffiuclt to get exactly what they are looking for.

If the groom has an idea of the suit he wanted, get him to bring pictures.

There's a massive big market in Bangkok it might be called Chatuchak....might be a weekend market I'm trying to remember. They have a huge section full of wedding related craft supplies, fairy lights, ribbon, fancy paper, fabrics....a million other decoration type things. I remember thinking I would love to go back there to buy all my decor in the future!
(just be aware all the gorgeous fairy lights will have Thai plugs so will need an adaptor when you use them at home)
