Large Tree for view and screening

We have a really large full gable end window in our master bedroom that has really nice views southeast, but east is a view of the neighbors drive.
So I'd like an evergreen tree that would add to the view(give the impression your up amongst the trees).
It'd be planted 8 meters from the house, and would have to be a tree whose root wouldn't do damage to a concrete work area it'd be planted close to.
We're fairly exposed so it'd have to be tolerant to strong winds.
So any recommendations for me? Ideally not conifers.
