i started using a vpn not too long ago. its a great tool to have but everytime i use the US network i get sent through new york and my location is this. is there anyway where i can customise my vpn and make it appear as though i'm in say Topeka, Kansas?

You emerge as if you were the VPN provider. If you want to appear as Topeka you need to find a VPN provider operating there.
