I got word last week that I passed my interview. Now regarding this i have a couple of questions if you wouldn't mind clearing up.
I've been reading through some of the post on the Garda Recruitment thread and i'm confused.
For instance ive been reading about recheck of physical - does that mean if i fail the bleep test i have another chance?
I know my eyesight is poor - should i get laser before my medical. I dont want the expense of it if its not a done deal so to speak.
    thanks

    Hey, congratulations!

You can always go for the laser consult before the medical and book the surgery once you're deferred for your eyes. They give you six months to send in your six week post op report.

As for the physical, if you fail any section you get three months to train and go back again. I don't know how it works if you fail both sections, though.

    Best of luck with it.

so say for instance i pass the physical, medical and nothing untoward in my past does that mean i would be eventually offered a place?
I say eventually as my oom is high.
How many are offered a place each time?
is it three times a year ?:o

In the current cycle it's 4 intakes of 200 students. The intakes are February,May, August and November. As for the other question, I would say if you hold up your end and pass the physical and medical you would be offered a place. This is provided your vetting is cleared. If you have have ever been brought to court or dodgey uncles in the RA this is a different story. I heard in this case you will be required to meet the cheif super of your district and talk about your charges or your dodgey relatives.
Its documented that when you apply the commissioner has the final say in your application but I haven't heard of anyone with all stages completed not getting in yet.
    Best of luck with it.
