Soles of feet constantly sore/fatigued

So I've been living with this problem for months now. The bottoms of my feet are constantly bothering me. It's not in one specific location, just the whole way from the underside of the toes to the end of the arches.

I don't spend a crazy amount of time running or walking. I train kickboxing in my bare feet 3-4 times a week and play astro football once a week. Generally in pretty good shape.

I work as a teacher but I spend half my time sitting down. I cycle 25 mins to and from work every day.

I'm not sure how to go about fixing this. I regularly roll my foot on golf balls and lacrosse balls and it feels nice but the relief is only temporary.

I feel like my calves are slightly tighter than they used to be but I still do fine in flexibility tests for them. (heels to the floor in a downward dog position)

I'm not sure if this is Plantar Fascitis or what. I googled the symptoms and some people recommend a Night Splint like this, that would keep my calves stretched all night. I don't want to fork out 80 euro for two of them though unless I know for sure they would help.

I recently bought a pair of New Balance black runners that I wear in work, and put soft gel insoles in them, but it hasn't helped much.

I'm reluctant to go to a physio about this because it's not really an injury, as such, more of an annoyance. Little things like going for a walk or a jog in nature don't appeal to me anymore, cos when I'm not training, I just want to lie down with my feet up against a wall.

Has anyone any advice for me?

This is just broad general advice having had foot problems (different to yours) in the last year. Your health is your greatest asset and you are really on your feet for a living. You really will benefit if you spend the time and money to get to the bottom of this. I would go and see the best physio you can find and buy anything that might help. It is a very small price to pay to avoid the problem getting bigger down the line. If you don't you will end up less fit, fatigued at work and missing days and so on and the cost will be much greater.

I spent 120 euros on three sets of insoles, based on physio' advice (80 euros consult) before Christmas. I just decided I had no time to waste, I needed to try anything that might help and I did indeed find a solution and it was worth the money.)

    Go see a podiatrist

I'm a physio and I see people with similar problems regularly. Make an appointment, do your exercises, take their advice and you'll be grand! Don't let this turn into something chronic.

I had that before for quite some time. Turned out it was constant wearing of cheap shoes/runners with poor arch support. Got a pair of clarks shoes for work and well fitting reebok's for home/gym - new man ever since!

Not saying thats your exact problem - but worth a try as a starting point.

Many thanks for the replies. I do think poor footwear was partially the reason why my problems started. From January to early March I was wearing old shoes with the sole pretty worn away. I've always liked the feeling of being barefoot and I thought that these sole-less shoes might actually be good for my feet but I think I was totally wrong.

Transform, funnily enough I actually went and purchased a shovel handle recently after seeing you posted that video. It is indeed a great tool. On the second video you posted, I do actually notice that my tibialis region on both shins is super tender. It feels great when I roll it out a bit with a stick. I'll try all those other stretches you recommended.

I'll see a physio or a podiatrist soon if I'm not getting any improvement.

    Thanks again though.
