Hi, I recently bought a tractor in the north. Should have taxbook tomorrow in the post.Do I need to send this to Ennis to get my name put on it ? Or do I just leave it as it is and book an appointment to register at the local NCT centre? Also the tractor was delivered 2 weeks ago but I have no documentation to show this, any suggestions?

Book it in once you get the V5 document. VRT would be €200.
There is a good FAQ on the citizens info site that details what else you need.

You're supposed to book it within 7 days of it arriving, and have it sorted within 30 days

V5 is still in last owners name, does this matter ? Thanks

No. it's supposed to be. You can't be the registered keeper of a UK car.
Hand written receipt of purchase dated a few days before you book the appointment will do fine.

I was asked for shipping/delivery documents and details at vrt centre for tractor last year. Let the registration lapse a little and had hassle getting said documents forward dated. Know another man that can't register his motorcycle due to no shipping details.

Got tax book today and booked appointment, closest I could get is next Wednesday, I have no shipping details but the tractor was only bought 34 days next Wednesday so I'm hoping they won't mind the extra 4 days ?

They only want a receipt of it coming into the state if it's more than 30 days before inspection date. I'm hoping they won't mind the fact it'll be 34 on inspection date. Bought a landini

If it came from NI there would be no ferry tickets involved. Who's to say when it came in!
Now, to be fair, 4 days on €200 VRT will only be a tiny penalty either way.

Not worried about penaltys, they say on website if u don't have all the required documents they won't register vehicle, prob will be grand !
