Mullingar Park as it's a lot closer than Canada.

Hodson Bay in Athlone is nice too.

I've eaten in both and both are good for food.
I've been to a wedding in Hodson Bay and it was very well done. The views really helped as it was during the summer. It also depends what you are doing for photography. The location of the Hodson Bay is fab, Mullingar Park hotel is beside a dual carriageway.

Hi. I have attended weddings in the Hudson Bay and thought the food was fine, the location is beautiful - provided you get the weather - and I can't really find any fault with them. They did have a minimum numbers policy (which wasn't the deal breaker but as we were only having a small wedding it wasn't ideal)

I had my own reception in the Mullingar Park so maybe I'm slightly biased but the food was excellent, the staff were very helpful - they have lovely gardens for photos or the lakes/Belvedere House are nearby for photos. There are loads of B&Bs in the immediate area and a lovely Chinese on the same site (for night before or after 😉)

When we were looking at venues (in 2011) we had narrowed it down to the Hudson Bay and the Mullingar Park and for me, the "WOW" factor when you go into the hotel and the fact it's slightly more modern clinched it for me.

Feel free to pm if you need more info
