Older fellas used to say to me she carrying a good few days must be a bull in her. Not sure that's proven but on IcBf Bulls are given a rating on gestation period length .

Cow calved this evening 281 days to TVR which is great, but same bull last year she took 292 days ! Hard to see how there would be such a difference in gestation from same cross

As apposed to lamb cattle? :p

There's different gestation periods in humans and other animals. You can't set your watch to it.

Beef cattle as different from Dairy cattle. All traits in nature vary according to a natural distribution.

And what she have last year and this year?

    Bull or heifer calf?

    Happens in horses too.
They usually carry a colt longer.

    2015 TVR heifer -286 days

    2016 TVR bull 292 days

    2017 TVR heifer -281 days
