Kerry will play Dublin in a reprise of the 2016 league final at HQ next Sunday as Dublin go for their 5th league in a row

Kerry showed some class today destroying Tyrone while Dublin had a very tough

win & close game against a very good Monaghan side.

Kerry really should have bet them two weeks ago & with Dublin haven't to lose sometime , Next week is as good as any.

I going for a Kerry win.

Mod edit - zero tolerance on this thread, any silliness will result in a ban

Dublin win. Few of the lads weren't up to scratch today but the bench helped. Iron out the kinks during the week.. When are tickets on sale lads? Clubs getting tickets or general sale?

The Centenary celebration would have contributed towards the high attendance figure.

Regardless of what some say. The league is growing in popularity. We were watching all the divisions yesterday was a great day for the GAA I wonder how many people were at GAA games yesterday . There is potential here as staying in division 1 and moving up divisions are big deals now .

    Hurling and football

Couldn't agree more. Both games are in an excellent position, and both are moving forward.

Id say it will be close to a sell out being a double header..Tried buying 1 adult and 1 juvenile yesterday evening and was unable to. Only lower cusack near the hill adult and juvenile, not great seats...Just checked and Davin and Terrace added today...

TBH I enjoy the competitive nature of the division one football greatly.Probably more so than much of the championship.

It is really is a great product and it shows in the attendances.I believe the same could be said for division one of the hurling and the other divisions of both codes.Teams of similar standards competing leads to great contests.

If GAA get off their bottom and properly market this it will be a sell out.

It is biggest draw in Irish sport and appeals well beyond the counties involved. County board allocations and season tickets will be going out between tmw and Thursday and after that another general sale.

As for the 1916 celebrations last year, I can't imagine too many people paid 30 quid just for that!

We are great people for undervaluing what we have. At least one train already booked out in Kerry last night!

I wonder will it be like the 1977 league final. That was possibly the most ferocious game I have seen in my life. Came in the midst of their serious rivalry and was clearly targeted by both teams as opportunity to achieve a balance of terror!

Kerry won by a point or two and Dublin beat them in AI semi final. They played one another in New York later in the year and that was another digging match!

Kerry really need to reverse the tide so Dublin need to be prepared for anything. Should be one of the games of the year.

Not sure I'd be doffing my cap to him.:)He was probably the greatest player I've ever seen play but was the source of endless torture for my county.

In fairness he didn't discriminate against who he tortured. He was an equal opportunities torturer!!

There's days I would have liked to see him the subject of extraordinary rendition to Guantanomo Bay as punishment for the pain he caused:D

Do we need to fill another thread up with fawning over Colm Cooper?

    ---

Kerry will be up for this etc. Need to show Dubin... Other stuff etc. Do this for Gooch.

Hopefully we'll continue the misery that they are apparently enduring and hop off them. Can't bloody wait.

Cant see this being a great game for the purists out there, Kerry will drag this down to a level we may never have seen before to try and win, its the only way they can win in my mind.  They cant out football Dublin so will have to try any gain any competitive advantage and dragging Dublin in to a dog fight of pulling dragging and off the ball stuff, it might just work.  I hope it doesnt. I think for years Kerry get away with this beautiful football stuff  when I believe they are the most cycnical team out there bar none

Anytime the Princes have been challenged; Dublin and Kildare in 20s, Galway and Laois in 30s; Armagh 1953, Dublin 1955, Down 1960s, Tyrone after 2002, they have tried every means to redress the balance.

Pure thuggery in a lot of case. They were put back into their box by Down and by Tyrone and latterly by Dublin.

Long may it continue. And yeah, expect a pure dog fight, but expect that our boys will not blink or stand back or take any sh1te.

And based on the "approach" they had last season especially what was meted out to us (and to a lesser extent, Tipp and Clare), that we'll do what we have started to do and just walk away and rile them. Nothing better than it.

Kerry are going the right way with the younger lads coming in but this should be beyond them atm.

Dublin have been drip feeding their established players back in and now look set to name a strong side. The psychological edge they have is hard broken. Dublin by 5.

I hope Kerry play football next Sunday, and not do the kind of thing they were at in Tralee. Despite their best efforts though, they couldn't beat Dublin even with their dirty approach. So let's hope for the good of the game and those that will go to see it, that they will revert to playing football again. It is what we all want to see.

Read Philly's interview. If that's what they want Dublin will not lie down. Heffo made that the DNA of Dublin teams. Days are long gone when they could kick us off the pitch.

    Beat them any which way.

Surely the the team of the late nineties and noughties had reputation as blowhards who had neither the football nor the guts though? That's my recollection anyway, might have them mixed with some other team.

Fitzy seems to be losing it a bit in the interviews, getting drawn in going back to games in 2011!!

Should add to it. Looking forward to the game regardless.

It's probably a game he can't afford to lose.

I reckon if Kerry tried some direct running they'll get goals. Not sure the Mexican wrestling routine is going to work for them in Croke Park

Can't wait for this game. The Dublin Kerry rivalry is one of the best in sport. The sly digs all week from media, players and supporters is brilliant. But once the game is over there's always great respect.

I hope Kerry win simply to change it up a bit. There's no All Irelands won in April but it would be a big mental boost to get one over Dublin.

On the other hand Dublin must feel a bit invincible at the moment. 3 draws and a comeback from 6 points down. All but beaten in a few of those games and yet they've still broken the record.

Of course the Dublin supporters want to keep winning, but from a neutral perspective a rivalry is much better when the same team isn't winning all the time, would you agree?

Not at all. You on the wind up?

When Kerry were getting to 6 All-Ireland's in a row did anyone really care about their rivalry with us then and the fairness of it? They did in their shoite.

When it comes to Kerry there is NO neutral perspective.

There's them and then there's everyone else.

I'm confused; are you saying you think neutrals would prefer Dublin to keep beating Kerry?

Nobody wants to see the same team keep winning all the time, apart from supporters of the team itself.

Yes, when Kerry were in 6 All Irelands in a row the neutral fan would have loved to see them beaten. Seamus Darbys goal to stop 5 in a row is an iconic GAA moment.

There are no neutrals? What are you on about? If someone is neither a Kerry fan or a Dublin fan they are a neutral.

There was no Dublin Kerry rivalry at that point - by the time that run ended the rivalry was clearly with Offaly, and the man who would rival Gooch for GOAT.

Kerry were the dominant team, and sure loads of neutrals were hoping someone would knock them off their perch. Didn't care if it was Dublin or Roscommon or Offaly or Cork or whoever else they came up against. In the end it was Offaly who put their hand up.

Its a similar situation now. In fact, I don't think the current Dublin team would be as feared as Kerry were back then.

As is often the situation in GAA that you have one team that is clearly the best in the country; 2 or 3 teams that have a chance of beating them; the rest are making up the numbers and playing for moral victories.

The Dublin Kerry rivalry is no more than the Dublin Mayo rivalry or the Dublin Donegal rivalry, from a neutral perspective. Its just that inevitably these are the teams that the Dubs are coming up against at the business end of the league or the AI. If its not one its the other. Until one of them gets a couple of wins, you cant say its a rivalry.
