Thanks to Debbie we have had floods here. Last Thursday I had to leave work a bit early. It was almost too late, In the end had to drive through some water to get home. The road was closed 30 mins after I went through.

The levee in town has kept floods out since it was built 12 years ago. This time it was not high enough and the water went over the top.

I have been isolated at home. I was the only one on my street who had power as I have solar panels and batteries. I was almost through the emergency reserve on the battery when the power was restored.

Went out and too a few shots locally some aerial shots above the house too. had to be careful as the helicopters have been active and often low.

Some of the Pano's will need to be a bit over to 800 pixels for display here.

Glad you and your home are safe but it looks like others were not so lucky :(

It's so green there - besides the floods - it's interesting to see the landscape. Shots are great!

This was a severe cyclone up in Northern Queensland where it did a lot of damage due to high winds. The residual came south and dropped a shed load of water in our area. We had already had a week of solid soaking rain which had loaded up the ground. When the big downpour occurred it just ran off into the rivers and they rose very fast.

There was a levee built and it finished back in 2005. There was debate at the time to build it to the level of a "1 in 10 year" flood or for a "1 in 100 year" flood. They went for the less expensive option.

I have not been into the CBD as they do not need sightseers in there. A friend has a business in the affected area. He sent me some shots from his iPhone. This damage is repeated many times over.

I can only imagine the clean up needed :( What a mess and it will cost a fortune. Will insurances there cover it?!

If you live in an area that has a flood history then getting flood insurance is almost impossible. Heard of one person who got a quote on a residential house. The premium was $14k p.a.

The streets are now lined with discarded items ruined by the water. I have not been down with the camera as there is a perception of taking advantage of their misery. There are plenty of other images out there anyway so I am leaving it alone.
