Can anyone advise on the going rate for bnb for a pen in a shed over the winter, they delivered the silage but we fed them. does it usually go by the pen or per head per day?

We have kept cattle for a neighbour and they (the aul lad and him) said at the start they would sort it out later, and just see what the going rate is. probably should have agreed on the price before, but anyway.

    Cheers,

    Eoin

Probably a wide variation on prices.

Teagasc advisor did figures for me a number of years ago to come to a figure on this for our particular situation, and for weanling cattle the cost for the house came to 55c per day. Add to that your hire cost for yourself and your machinery and a cost of slurry removal, where he may wish to take it home, or you may keep it for your farm.

Some may not agree, as I expect a widely different thoughts on this..

Cheers, I had a figure of 60c in my head, but he has just gotten back to me saying teagasc advise 20c per head per day.

Seems too cheap to me. maybe 20c was just for the rent of the shed. us feeding has to be taken into account.
I could be completely wrong though, 20c could just be the normal rate. If it is we wont be doing it again, definitely not worth the hassle

F that. Charge him €45 per hour for the feeding. And tell him that’s what the agri contractors advise.

What exactly is the procedure for B&B?
Do you have to TB test to move them to another farm shed, even if the other farm has no cattle at the time?

I think your herd and his herd just have to be in test and both clear. Could be wrong though

To the best of my knowledge the B & B arrangement is no longer allowed. It is now a full movement as if you sell the animal. Check with your local DVO.

Could any of ye tell me how much should i charge for for B and B for bullocks on grass from March until around October/ November. Summer grazing, no herding etc. Bullocks would be roughlyaround 400kg when they arrived in March. Very informal arrangement, as I couldn't buy myself, due to the marts closure because of the Covid. Neighbour said that he would put some of his in for the summer. Just roughly how much per head per day
