    Hi

I am offering land for rent. The person interested wants to put horses on the land. There are rushes on the land and it hasnt been farmed for a year. Should i allow horse on? Will they damage the land?what should my stipulations be?

If you want to rent to this guy the minimium id say you should ask is that no riding takes place on the ground and they're not kept on it over winter

Is this person 'extended family'? Don't touch them with a barge pole if so, only drawing them around the place on you.

Thanks, il actually a guy i know locally. And totally nor.ally people 😂 ok he said they would be lighter horses, young ones i think. I didnt have the land rented last year. He said there could be redwater on it and not suitable for cattle. Also fencing isnt the best for sheep he thinks ( which they have ) and in my head could put on it? A simple electric fence would suffice i would have thought and wouldnt be too expensive?

Why are horses so bad can you tell me? Is it a total no go even if i cant get anyone else to rent it?

I have an acre here destroyed by a horse, they are notoriously poor grazers, they won't eat where they sh.. on and overgraze ground elsewhere.
As for horse people, well my experience of them was poor so won't say any more, I've evicted my tenant but it'll be a long time before the land will be right.

Well, i disagree. The minimum requirement per horse is 2 acres so putting a horse on 1 acres is asking for trouble.. OP, Condition of the land? Number of horses? size of the land?

I would go by the thumb rule 4 acres per horse. There won't be much destruction. Stipulate that lessee has to maintain the land, land gets rolled once a year and the horses are rotated regulary. I lease 30 acres and have 7 horses on it. The land is rolled once a year after winter - that takes care of the damage.
