Hi All, I have a very ugly box and cable that belonged to Chorus/UPC multi channel that are as dead as a door nail for over 12 months or more. The two companies are gone but the mess remains on our fascias and walls. We would like to remove them asap, any constructive advise welcome .

    Kind regards

Was this their MMDS TV service with an aerial on the roof or their cable TV service?

Is this on the outside of your house? Even if you're not using the service, it could be supplying service to your neighbours.

Wouldn't touch it without ringing Virgin first.

If it's on the inside, just unscrew the box and get the polyfilla out.

The MMDS system was switched off about 12 months ago so I assume this cable system was fed from the MMDS. Have you contacted Virgin Media (UPC) via the talk to Forum here?

A decent % of the network was killed with the MMDS switchoff - analogue only areas isolated from the main network. They were giving contact details to get MMDS gear removed so I assume they'd have some method of handling this but dead tree post might be the best way to get the right person.

Actavo were contracted by Virgin to remove MMDS gear at a cost of €160 to ex-subscribers, the question is; who is responsible for removing the redundant cabling from these small MMDS fed cable networks?

Remove it yourself or pay the local TV installer guy to do it.
