I had an Eir rep at the door the other day selling their fibre service, she told me they are now allowed by Comreg to offer up to a maximum of €200 to help people buy out their contracts with other providers and sign up with Eir for broadband etc.
It's the first I heard of this practice,is it a thing now or just rep BS to sign people up?

A few years back Sky gave me €200 credit on my account to switch back to them. This was to cover the €200 cancellation fee from UPC.

So I would not be surprised if Eir are in fact doing as you say.

Actually I was talking with a friend who can now avail of eir Fibre Extreme, but he had a few months remaining on his VDSL contract with Vodafone. The door-to-door salesdrone said they would buy out the remainder of the contract to get him to sign up. He didn't believe him, so he sent him packing.

I agreed that he did the right thing, as it sounded like:

    Maybe not.

I seriously doubt that COMREG would have prevented them free from doing so in the past.

A friend of mine had an eir sales rep on his doorstep a couple of weeks ago. He literally didn't say a single thing that was true.
