Annual Taxsaver pass refused on Nightrider service

So I was in Dublin on the night of the 5th of March and was waiting to get the 101N bus to Drogheda at 3:30. I have an annual taxsaver pass which I can use on this service but the driver of the bus said my ticket was not valid and wouldn't let me on the bus. He said he was told not to accept them.

The bus was on hire for Bus Eireann and the driver as adamant that my ticket wasn't valid. I've used the pass on the 101N before. Unfortunately I hadn't enough cash on me to buy a fare and the driver wasn't holding on so I wouldn't have had time to get to an ATM and back.

It even states on the website that Annual tax saver tickets are valid.

So basically I was stranded in Dublin at 3:30 in the morning and had to wait around until 07:00 for the first 100x bus to Drogheda.

I lodged a complaint with Bus Eireann that night. I had taken a photo of the reg of the bus and explained what happened. I still haven't received any response to my complaint. I tweeted the Bus Eireann account and got a response saying my complaint was still under investigation.

I was just wondering have I any other options? I'm considering going down the legal route and taking them to court.

Any other ideas on what I should do?

The op said it was on the 5th of March. It's now the 29th.

Complain to BE again about the delay and report them to the NTA as well.

You should have shown the driver the web site and refused to get off, asked him to contact BE to confirm. Let him have called the Gardai if he didn't like it, then showed them the same when they arrived. There's nothing they could do as they can't arrest you when you have proof that you have a valid ticket. Had you been forced off then you would have had a nice compo case against BE.

On the other hand, given the likely scenario that you were drunk, you'd have been better off recording video on your phone of the driver refusing you, got a taxi and then put in a claim against BE for the cost of it.

Can you imagine what the other drink fueled passengers would have done if I had of delayed them from getting home while waiting for the guards? I'd have been lynched. I actually did have the timetable on my phone where it says the ticket is accepted and said it to the driver but he wasn't interested. In hindsight I should have recorded the conversation. Hopefully they don't go out of business before responding to my complaint!
